Michael J. Gibbs, 57, of 371 Main Street, South Williamsport, died Saturday, January 22, 2011 at The Williamsport Hospital Regional Medical Center following an extended illness.
Mike was an Army veteran. He was a member and past Commander and Quartermaster for VFW Post 844, Williamsport and a former Commander of District 15.
Mike was a big Elvis fan, enjoyed gardening, was an avid bowler and very fond of his dogs Jack and Sassy.
Born August 3, 1953 in Williamsport, he was the son of Robert K. and Edna Catherine Able Gibbs.
Surviving are his companion of 22 years, Linda L. Tines; son, Michael J. Gibbs II of Williamsport; daughter, Beth Ann (Gibbs) Fotchman in Virginia; brothers, Robert K. and Walter F. both of Williamsport; sisters, Dawn M. Swartz and Cathy E. Gibbs both of Williamsport; nine grandchildren and twelve nieces and nephews.
Mike was predeceased by his parents and a brother, Ray Gibbs.
