Mike Bowers, 61, of South Haven, MI (formerly of Granger, IN) passed away on Monday, February 10, 2014 in his home.

Mike was born on June 5, 1952 to Floyd D. (Vic) and Phyllis J. (Peg) (Faulkner) Bowers in Toledo, OH, but spent most of his life in southern Michigan and northern Indiana. He was a graduate of Clay High School, Ivy Tech and Siena Heights University. Mike spent the majority of his career as a customer service manager with AEP, but was most proud of his time with Catholic Charities and Grassroots Technology of which he was the founder and operator.

Mike spent his life, both personally and professionally, helping others. He served on the Board for the United Way, is a past president of NAMI, and was a mentor and friend to countless men and women he met in his volunteer activities.

Mike was an accomplished bass guitarist and lead singer, a friend of nature and a protector of animals. He loved Harleys and Hot Rods and the long peaceful rides they provided. His family’s fondest memories are of time spent with him fishing, playing catch, camping, golfing and bird watching. Mike was an adoring son and the greatest friend his brother and sister have ever known. He had nothing but love and words of praise for his daughters and was endeared for the countless bursts of laughter he generated from his grandchildren.

Mike was preceded in death by his father, Floyd (Vic) Bowers. He is survived by his mother, Phyllis (Peg) Bowers; two daughters, Karmin (Jason) Meade and Megan (Jason) Hines; five grandchildren: BriAnna, Ellie, Graham, Lydia, and Hazel; his sister, Pamela (Jerry) Timm; his brother, Marc Bowers; and niece, Nicole Bowers.

The family invites you to attend a celebration of Mike’s life on March 28th at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 52553 Fir Road, Granger, IN.
