Michael D. Jenkins, 66, of Williamsport, passed away on March 20, 2018, at his home following a courageous battle with cancer.
Born on Nov. 15, 1951, he was the son of Harold and the late Elizabeth (Goldy) Jenkins.
Mike was a 1969 graduate of South Williamsport Area High School where he was a member of the football, wrestling, and track teams.
Following graduation, he served in the U.S. Navy from 1969-1973, stationed in San Diego, California. During his time in the Navy, Mike earned the rank of second class boiler technician and completed two ship tours upon the R.K. Turner and USS Mahan. During that time he had stops in Japan, Korea, and Vietnam.
Mike was a licensed Master Plumber and was employed by Lycoming College as plumbing supervisor. He retired in 2013 after serving the Lycoming College community for 36 years.
Mike enjoyed gardening, mowing the lawn, maintaining his pool, baking bread, making applesauce and puttering around the house. He was a very skilled craftsman whose greatest accomplishment was building his home with his wife in 2002. He loved attending his children’s sporting events as they grew up and was a fan of Lycoming football.
Surviving in addition to his father, are his wife of 16 years, the former Chrissy Motter. He is also survived by three sons, Kevin (Mendi) Jenkins, of Yorktown, Va., Keith Jenkins, of Nazareth, Pa. and Matthew (Kimberly) Jenkins, of Gettysburg; two daughters, Katie (Brandon) Tomlinson, of Salisbury, Md. and Amanda (Charles) Simmons, of Williamsport; 11 grandchildren: Tyler Jenkins, Tanner Jenkins, Tristan Jenkins, Taran Jenkins, Tegan Jenkins, Morgan Jenkins, Carter Jenkins, Camryn Jenkins, Stella Tomlinson, Elaina Burkins and Charlie Simmons; and a brother, Harold “Jerry” Jenkins, of Pittsburgh.
