He was born on October 10, 1948, in Pittsylvania County, the son of the late Tom Willie Eanes and the late Eva Doris Hammock Eanes. He was married to Pamela Myers Eanes of Chatham; one daughter, Anita Eanes Dowell of Chatham, three grandchildren, Taylor Lester, Brian Dowell and Katelyn Dowell; four sisters, Hazel E. Hodges of Rocky Mount, Ruby Beasley of Mount Jackson, Lou Ella E. Chitwood of Rocky Mount and Doris E. Thacker of Keeling; one brother, Tom Jimmy Eanes of Callands.
