Merril Gene Jacobsen, 86, of Freeport, died Thursday, May 22, 2014, at his home.
He was born December 10, 1927 in Jackson County, Minnesota. He was the son of Frederick and Ethel (Reynolds) Jacobsen. He married Marcella Harrison December 14, 1947.He worked for Kraft foods for 40 years. Merril was a World War II Navy veteran. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.
Surviving are his wife, Marcella of Freeport; his daughters, Christine (Gary) Schmidt of Jefferson City, Missouri and Kathleen (Donald) Jensen of River Falls, Wisconsin; his son, Vernon (Margaret) Jacobsen of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; eight grandchildren; his daughter in-law, Virginia Jacobsen of Rockford; three sister in-laws, Anna Mae Jacobsen of Henry, Mildred Jacobsen, and Dora Friedewald both of St. Louis, Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Bradley; his brothers, Hughey, Lowell, and Wesley.
