Merrell C. Darling, 95, of 3350 Lycoming Creek Road, Williamsport, passed away Friday, Dec. 3, 2010, at Valley View Nursing Center. He was the son of Otto and Bessie Darling.
Merrell was born June 25, 1915, and was a life-long resident of Williamsport. He was preceded by his late wives, Ruth E. Liddic of 49 years, and Martha E. Beecroft of 18 years. He will be greatly missed by his surviving family including his daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Steve Weigle of Lilburn, Ga., and his two grandchildren, Brian and Jennifer Weigle.
Merrell was well-known for his caring and generous nature. He was happiest spending quality time with his family and friends, caring for his two cats, and watching the many wild birds and animals he fed regularly.
Mr. Darling was a retired salesman from Olewines of Harrisburg, now Sysco, and Reeves-Parvin of Williamsport. He was an avid bowler and enjoyed traveling during his retirement.
