Merle Teeter, age 85 of Algona, passed away Friday, June 30, 2017 at the Titonka Care Center. Merle Luverne Teeter, son of Vern and Elaine (Christensen) Teeter was born April 29, 1932 in Algona, Iowa at home. He attended country schools and graduated from Algona High School in 1950. In January of 1952, Merle enlisted in the United States Air Force serving during the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged in January of 1956. On November 10, 1956, Merle was united in marriage with Myrna Jennings in Algona, Iowa. Merle was a farmer and also worked as a mechanic for Buscher Brothers Implement. Merle was a devoted member of Grace Church. He loved spending time with his family and friends. Merle especially enjoyed his grandchildren, watching Twins baseball games, eating ice cream and sitting on his front porch watching the world go by.

Merle is survived by his wife of 60 years, Myrna Teeter of Algona; his children, Sherry (Robert Steffan) Pleas of Houston, TX, Larry (Al Salinas) Teeter of Portland, OR, Mark Teeter of Rural Valley, PA, Robert (Tracy) Teeter of Mason City, James (Chantel) Teeter of Algona and Sheila (Michael Waytenick) Smart of West Des Moines; eleven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; brothers, Harold Teeter of Euless, TX and Kenneth (Clara) Teeter of Janesville, WI along with many cousins and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents.
