Mercedes Leis peacefully entered into eternal rest on August 9th, 2022. She will be remembered for her devout faith, love of family, witty sense of humor, and positive outlook. Mercedes was an avid reader who enjoyed puzzles, drawing and painting, sewing, crocheting, and jewelry making. After retiring from many years at the Bayer Corporation, she spent her days at the White Plains Senior Center where she enjoyed volunteering her time in their library, working on jigsaw puzzles with fellow seniors, taking sit and fit classes, and attending special movie events and day trips. Mercedes had many friends at the Senior Center and enjoyed the time she spent with her extended family. In 2011 she was awarded and inducted into the Westchester County Senior Hall of Fame for her generous contribution to improve the quality of life in White Plains. Mercedes was a lifelong resident of White Plains, born to Mercedes and Julian Duran on June 11, 1929. She is predeceased by her husband Constantino, son Vincent, and siblings; Socorra, Julian, Jose, and Aurelio, and Julian’s wife Gloria her closest and dearest friend. She is survived by many nieces and nephews.
