Melvyn Stewart Kosmin, 76, of Delray Beach passed away on Friday, March 18, 2022 at his home.

Mel was a loving, caring, kind, and warm man who was so well loved by his friends and family.

Melvyn, affectionately known as Mel, was born on August 20, 1945 in Philadelphia Pennsylvania.  He grew up in a loving home and was very close with his brother and his parents.  He graduated from Cheltenham high school and was very proud of the fact that he took four years of Latin.  He received his undergraduate degree from Drexel University in electrical engineering and was a member of the wrestling team.  After school he began working for the army as a contractor developing laser disk technology for use in tanks.  He later went on to receive his masters in computer science from Fairleigh Dickinson University, and spent the bulk of his career in the field of software engineering.

As a father he was kind, nurturing, supportive, and very patient.  He never gave up on his children and always encouraged them to do their best.  He was a hands-on father.

He was exceptionally handy, he could build a house, a car, a motor, or any engineering technology, he even built a three-story condominium for one of his children’s pets just so that they would be comfortable. He could fix anything.

Mel was a man committed to his Jewish religion and heritage. He was observant, conscientious, and had great faith in God. He did his best to pass this on to his children.

Mel was an avid runner and he ran the New York City Marathon twice in his 50s.  Mel had different interests and passions, but none compared to the love he had for his wife, children, grandchildren, brother, nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and friends.

Mel was predeceased by parents Al and Maddie.  He is survived by his wife Michelle, children:  Amy and her fiancé Jerry, Adam, Michael and his wife Adriana, and Jeffrey and his wife Darcy, grandchildren: Brody, Evan, Camden, and Emile, brother Bruce and his wife Anne, nieces and nephew: Ali and her husband Josh, Danny, and Joelle, and great nieces and nephews:  Eli, Emma, Max, Zack, Avi, and Zoe.
