WINTER HAVEN – Melvyn “Alan” Wilfong, 83, passed away, as a result of Myasthenia Gravis, Saturday, February 23, 2013.
Mr. Wilfong was born September 22, 1929 in Montezuma, Indiana and moved to Winter Haven in 1992 from California. Mr. Wilfong had three careers in his life. Initially, he worked in a railroad office in Indianapolis, IN. Mr. Wilfong’s next career was as the owner/operator of a restaurant and bar in California City, California. He also owned and operated a sports gym for 18 years in Burbank, CA. Since his retirement to Winter Haven in 1992, Mr.
Mr. Wilfong was preceded in death by his parents, Stanwood Wilfong and Clara Wilfong Gooldy; step father, John Gooldy; and brothers, Donald and John. He is survived by his wife, Mary “Ruth” Wilfong; uncle, Nelson Rohr; and several nieces and nephews.
