Mel volunteered at Christ Chapel and served as vice chairman of the board.
He served on the City of Ringgold’s Planning and Zoning Committee for the past 8 years
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Ethel White McGuffey
He is survived by his loving wife of 24 years Charlotte Ensley McGuffey, children; Cherie (Tim) Kuhns, of Hixson TN, Norman (Kaye) McGuffey of Cleveland TN, Stephen (Shannon) McGuffey of Cleveland TN, Matthew (Zandra) McGuffey of Ooltewah TN; brother, Lester (Evelyn) McGuffey of Batesville AR ; and Papaw to 14 grandchildren, one great granddaughter and several nieces and nephews.
