Melvin Leroy Scott, 87, of Granite City, IL, born July 13, 1930 in Bad Axe, MI passed away on November 21, 2017 in Carlinville, IL. Melvin served in the United States Navy. He moved from California and has lived in the Southern Illinois area for the past 50 plus years. Melvin retired after working 25 plus years in Maintenance at American Steel in Granite City, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wolford and Hazel Scott, nee Elliot.
Melvin is survived by three children, Shirley (John) Stucke of Sorento, IL, Donald (Florie) Scott of Carterville, IL, Barbara (Dave) Painter of Livingston, IL; six grandchildren, Tabitha (Randy) Wilson, Heather (Josh) Westerback, David Painter, David Scott, Rachel Scott, Alexandra Painter; four great-grandchildren, Alyssa Wilson, Courtney Wilson, Mackenzie Wilson, Chad Westerback; one great-great-grandchildren, Addison Henke.
