Melvin Lee Wilder, 89, of Franklinton passed away Wednesday, August 31, 2022. He was born July 17, 1933 in Franklin County to the late Lawrence and Lucille Goswick Wilder. He was also preceded in death by a son, Robert Scott Wilder, a brother, Larry Wilder, a sister, Mary Ann Hagwood and a nephew, David Wilder.
Mr. Wilder was a U.S. Army veteran and served his country in the Korean War. He was a farmer his entire life until he lost his son. He was also a volunteer fireman with the Mitchiner’s Crossroads Fire Department. He loved being outdoors. He loved fishing, hunting, driving his dogs around in the back of his truck and mowing his grass. Most of all, he loved his Mitchiner’s Crossroads family and friends.
Mr. Wilder is survived by his wife, Maggie Jean Wilder, a daughter, Vickie Lee Wilder, a sister-in-law, Patricia Wilder, nieces, Kelly, Patty Lyn, Laura Ann and Connie and a nephew, Dean.
