Melba Darlene Heaton, 78, of Macon, died Friday, January 8, 2016 at the Macon Health Care Center. Melba was born June 23, 1937, in Gifford, MO, to Orville and Icie (Pyle) Bane.
She was born and raised in Gifford, and resided in Macon. She was an active member of the Baptist faith, where she previously had served as a Sunday School Teacher and a pianist at different churches throughout her life.
Melba married LaVerne Gail Heaton on May 10, 1957 in Memphis, MO, and he survives. Also surviving are her children, Michael Heaton and his wife Kim of Macon, Alan Heaton and his wife Anne of Shawnee, KS, Jana Longbine of Moberly, and Shelly Heaton of Iowa; 10 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; a brother, Wilbur Bane of Ottumwa, IA; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Arthur Bane and a sister Dema Aldridge.
She enjoyed traveling, spending time with family and researching family history.
