McCracken King (Mac) Poston, Sr., 85, of Graysville, Ga., passed away peacefully Monday, July 13th at a local hospital. Mr. Poston was born in Bunker Hill, Tennessee on August 22, 1923. He served in the United States Marine Corps during World War II. In 1947 Mr. Poston moved to Chattanooga and began a 38 year career with Wheland Foundry, where he served in several supervisory roles. He retired as the Sand Superintendent for the foundry in 1985. He was the beloved son of the late John Edwin Poston, Sr. and Mary Lizzie McCracken Poston of Bunker Hill. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Douglas Poston of Bunker Hill, Calvin Poston of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee, and John Edwin Poston, Jr. of Chattanooga. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Barbara Sumners Poston; his six children, Dr. Mary Poston Tanner (Dr. Homer Kemp) of Ringgold, Ga., Carolyn Poston (Jack) Towns of Graysville, Ga., Jan Poston (the late Archie) Poole of Graysville, Georgia, Katie Poston (Mike) Stuckey of Ohatchee, Alabama, Nancy Poston of Chattanooga, and McCracken King Poston, Jr., of Ringgold, Ga. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
