Mazie R. Nuzum, the daughter of Zala and Mabel Culver Richards, was born June 7, 1917 in Churdan, Iowa. She moved to Maxwell High School and attended the University of Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa.
On September 3, 1936, Mazie was united in marriage to A. L. “Al” Nuzum in Maxwell, Iowa. In 1938 they moved to Baxter, Iowa where they opened the Al Nuzum Supply Company. During WWII while Al was serving his country, Mazie ran their supply company. After the war she worked in the Baxter school library. Mazie was devoted and loving his wife and mother. In 1973 they moved to Panora, Iowa and then in 1993 they moved to Ormond Beach, Florida.
Mazie was Preceded in Death by her parents; her husband, Al in 1993; her son Bill Nuzum; two grandchildren, Tod Nuzum and Carolyn Krueger; and her brother, Roscoe Richards. Those left to honor her memory are her two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Sharon Nuzum of Forney, Texas; Bruce and Shirley Nuzum of Newton, Iowa; her daughter and son-in-law, Lorra Nuzum and Steve Waters of Ormond Beach, Florida; her eleven grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and her sister, Neta Johnson of Hays, Kansas.
