Obituary of Maxine Schulz

Maxine Schulz of Saginaw, formerly of Sandusky, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 5, 2018, at Hoyt Nursing Home. She was 96 years old. Maxine Lois Carney was born on February 19, 1922 in Sandusky, Michigan to the late Floyd and Hazel (Cameron) Carney. She married her sweetheart Donald R. Schulz on June 20, 1942; he preceded her in death on May 6, 1989 after 48 years of marriage. She was a faithful member of State Street United Methodist Church and cherished time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. An avid bowler, frequent traveler, and occasional knitter, Maxine also appreciated toe-tapping music, Tiger games on TV, and all things savory and sweet. She will be dearly missed. Maxine is survived by a daughter, Phyllis (Kirk) Ziegelmann of Saginaw; a son, Lt. Col. (Ret) Donald W. (Alice) Schulz of Freeland; six grandchildren: Steven Ziegelmann of Saginaw, Bradley (Sarah) Ziegelmann of Saginaw, Michael Ziegelmann of Victor, New York, Amy (Paul) Schweitzer of Linden, Laurie (Tammus) Hileman of Freeland, and Emily Schulz of Denver, Colorado; 12 great-grandchildren; a sister, Beverly McHugh; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Maxine was preceded in death by her three brothers: Raymond, Clayton, and Gordon Carney.
