Maxine Rausch, 91, of Meredosia, passed away Friday, Nov. 30, 2012, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield. She was born Feb. 9, 1921, in Meredosia, the daughter of Otto and Margarite McLain Yeakel. She married Herman Henry Rausch on May 5, 1937, in Winchester, and he survives.

She is also survived by four children, James Herman Rausch of Meredosia, Elizabeth Joyce (husband, Charles) Hanson of Serena, Gary Lynn (wife, Carole) Rausch of Meredosia, and Cathy Sue (Leland) Knott of Beardstown; twelve grandchildren; and fifteen great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her first child, Darrell Henry Rausch in infancy; and two brothers, John Layton Yeakel and Teddy Yeakel.

After attending Meredosia High School, Mrs. Rausch worked as a switchboard operator for a local phone company, followed by a career at Passavant Area Hospital for over twenty years. After retirement, she enjoyed traveling with her husband, bowling, playing bingo, and especially reading. Her family was important to her and she loved spending time with her kids and grandkids.
