Maxine Mattie (Taylor) Gillespie, age 90, of Pierpont Center, Fairmont, passed away, Wednesday, December 22, 2010, at her residence. She was born at home, January 1, 1920, in Braxton County, WV, a daughter of the late William and Roxie (Malcomb) Taylor. Her husband, Hazel Gillespie preceded her in death in 1972. Mrs. Gillespie enjoyed sewing, quilting, cooking, playing dominos and bingo. Her great grandchildren loved her homemade biscuits. She was a Methodist by faith. Surviving are: five children; Garnet L. Garrett, of Clarksburg, WV, Howard L. Gillespie, of Amherst, OH, Juanita C. Mascaro and husband Sam, of Charlotte, NC, Roy T. “Bo” Gillespie and wife Pat, of Vermillion, OH, Roger L. Gillespie, of Amherst, OH; fourteen grandchildren, Loretta Kay Reeder, Charlotte Ward, Joyce Ann Phillips, Jimmy Garrett, Howard Gillespie, Janet Kiser, Steve Gillespie, Mike Gillespie, Brian Jacobs, Brittney Jacobs, Roy Gillespie, Jr., LeAnne Gillespie, Frank Mascaro, Greg Mascaro; 25 great grandchildren; six great great grandchildren and one on the way; three sisters, Ruby Keener, of Winnabow, NC, Lucille Edminston, of Tucson, AZ, Beatrice Ballew, of Hubbard, OH; one brother, Virgil Taylor of Canfield, OH; several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great great nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by: four brothers, John, Glenn, Hughie, and Bill Taylor; and one sister Madeline Manning. Mrs. Gillespie’s family would like to thank the Pierpont Center and staff, and Hospice of Marion County for their excellent care.
