Maxine Henderson Karr, 87, died Friday, January 27, 2017, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford, MS..m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Oxford, MS with Bishop Shawn Telford officiating…m..m. on Monday at the church. Born in Lafayette County, MS, to the late James Roy and Velma Mitchell Henderson, Mrs. Karr was a retired bookkeeper and front end manager at Liberty Supermarkets in Oxford, MS. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and active in the Disabled American Veterans. She held several offices in the Lafayette County Genealogical Society. She had the opportunity to write many articles for the Oxford Eagle. Mrs. Karr found great joy in quilting with her sisters and sewing and knitting. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Shoffer Daniel Karr, Jr. and sisters, Jimmie Ruth Franklin, Marjorie Davis and Laverne Edwards. She is survived by her daughter, Ruth Ann Prather of Oxford, MS; sons, Shoffer Daniel Danny Karr, III and his wife, Pamela of Columbus, MS and Dennis Eugene Karr of Oxford, MS; six grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild..
