Max “David” Pope, 60

Okeechobee – Max “David” Pope died December 12, 2021. He was born December 12, 1960, in Okeechobee to Frances Draughon Pope and Max Pope. David was a professional welder and master fabricator. He was known for creating perfect solutions to mechanical problems in the dairy and citrus industry. He took great pride in his work.

David treasured spending time with his family more than anything else. His daughters brought him great joy in life. He taught them to appreciate the quietness found in fishing, camping, and kayaking. He invested time in his grandchildren, niece, and nephew to teach them wisdom, common sense, and faith in the Lord. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle – and polishing it to perfection after every ride.

David was a lifelong believer in Jesus. His faith in Christ was strong and he shared it. He knew that his future was in heaven – and now he is reunited with his mother, grandmothers, and many other family and friends. His kindness and love will never be forgotten. His name will be kept alive for generations.

Mr. Pope was preceded in death by his mother, Frances Draughon Pope; maternal grandparents, Esther Domer Draughon and John D. Draughon; and paternal grandparents, John Pope and Louise Hagan Pope.

He is survived by his father, Max Pope; daughters, Erica Kursman (Matthew) and Lori Pope (Harry Hayes); sister, Tracy Phillips; brother-in-law, James Phillips, IV; grandchildren, Luke and Lillian Hayes (and another loved grandson on the way); nephew, James Phillips, V; and niece, Sarah Phillips.
