Maurice “Mo” Cain, 82, of Cape Canaveral, Florida passed away at home on Monday, May 6, 2013, surrounded by his loving family. Mo was born on March 31, 1931 in Miami, Florida. After serving in the US Air Force with the Strategic Air Command he received his Bachelor’s of Science in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Miami and his Master’s Degree in Systems Engineering at Wright State University. Mo retired from Wright Patterson Air Force Base where he worked in the Air Force Flight Dynamics Laboratory (AFFDL). He was in charge of the Base’s wind tunnel which was used for design and development of airplane wings and fuselages. The wind tunnel could achieve wind speeds over Mach 1 and had the largest cross-sectional area for these wind speeds, in the world. Mo continued his career at General Physics in Titusville in the pressure vessel burst test program.

A devoted husband, Mo is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Pat ; and his six children; Michael Cain (Tangmo), Mary Torcello (Ronald), Jim Cain (Dina), Tere Cain, Cheryl Freeman and Deanna Greenwell (Robert); 14 grandchildren ; and 2 great-grandchildren.

Mo was an avid supporter of the Miami Hurricanes. He fulfilled his lifelong dream of becoming a private pilot and enjoyed many trips with family and friends.
