Maurice P. Gagnon, 65, of New Britain, passed away peacefully after a lengthy battle with ALS on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at the Hospital for Special Care in New Britain.
Maurice was born March 17, 1953 in New Brunswick, Canada son to Jeanette (Levesque) and the late O’Neil Gagnon. His family relocated to the United States when he was a young teen and he became a citizen, residing in New Britain for the majority of his life. Maurice was a devoted employee of Stanley Tools in New Britain for many years. He was a jack of all trades and a hard worker, always willing to lend a helping hand with any task. Maurice enjoyed carpentry and dissembling cars to put them back together. In addition, Maurice liked to hunt and enjoyed flying planes out of Robertson Airport, holding a medical permit so he was able to fly solo. He lived life the fullest in the short amount of time he had, never taking a day for granted and always with a great sense of humor. He will be missed dearly by his entire family.
In addition to his mother, Jeanette (Levesque) Gagnon, of New Brunswick, Canada, Maurice is survived by his children, Kelly De La Cruz, of Wethersfield, and Chris Gagnon, of Plainville; his brother, Henry Gagnon, of Middletown; his sister, Mona Bourgoin, of Bristol; his grandchildren, Joshua and Zoe De La Cruz, of Wethersfield; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family. He was predeceased by his father, O’Neil Gagnon and his sister, Corinne Pelletier.
