It is with great sadness and unspeakable joy that we announce the passing of our beloved son and brother Matthew M. Roche to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He left a world that he tried to befriend, he performed as if it were his last game, all out, and demanded perfection of himself so that others would benefit.
Matthew was born in Bristol on March 13, 1991 to his beloved parents Michael C. Roche and Lisa M. “Roman” Roche. Matt was a graduate of Bristol Eastern’s Class of 2009. Matt had just completed his freshman year at Roger Williams University in Bristol Rhode Island where he excelled in the classroom and for their baseball team. Matt was a member of the current Bristol American Legion baseball Team; and a Bible believer of Bristol Bible Chapel.
Matt will be remembered for the smile that would light up a room and a work ethic that was second to none. He brought great joy to his grandfather, Martin Roche of Southington, on the ball field, cherished by his grandparents, Donald and Joann Roman of Westerly Rhode Island; aunts, uncles, and cousins who loved Matt dearly; and absolutely adored by his sister, Michaela R. Roche, and brother Peter J. Roche, who will remember trips to New Hampshire, West Virginia, and Nebraska as well as our time together at Yankee Stadium this past September. Matt was predeceased by his Paternal Grandmother, Marion Roche, his Paternal Step-Grandmother Patricia Roche, and his Maternal Great Grandmother Josephine “Nana” Macknauskas. Matt will always treasure the time he spent with his girlfriend, Tresa Fernarni.
He will also be missed by his parents who are very proud of what he accomplished this past year and how he came back to Bristol to mend and rekindle relationships and make up for lost time. His family will miss him dearly but will see him soon in the presence of Jesus singing a new song and will serve the Lord when Christ comes to reign as King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
