Matthew Kejuan Cleveland Jones, 20, of Lafayette, Indiana, died unexpectedly April 12, 2022. His grandfather Cleveland Darty and baby sister Timia preceded him in death.
Matthew was born December 14, 2001, in Chicago, Illinois, to Bianca Rogers and Matthew W. Jones. He attended Lafayette schools and graduated from Jefferson High School in 2020, where he was a member of the basketball team. He then was recruited for basketball and attended Calumet College of St. Joseph where he majored in Business Administration.
Matthew was a member of the Indiana Elite AAU Program as well as Tecumseh Junior High School football team where he received numerous kudos and accolades for his dynamic athletic abilities. He also worked at Red Bio Lab so that he could assist his mom and take care of the stray cats that he always picked up.
Matthew is survived by his parents Bianca Rogers and Matthew Jones of Lafayette, IN, his sisters Taylor Thornton and Morgan Jones. His Godmother Sabrina Neely and God sister Nakayla Bailey. He also leaves his grandparents, Elaine and Troy McKnight, of East Chicago, IN; Earnest Crawford of Chicago, IL; and Deborah Jones of Wausau, WI. He is also survived by his close friends, Celeste Mendoza, Tyson Miller, Dylan Seabolt, KeVontae “Bubba” Richard, Pa Sisay, Tyler Treece, and Ethan Piercy of Lafayette, IN and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.
