Matthew David Mestas, longtime resident of Albuquerque NM, passed away on Thursday, January 30, 2020. Matt was a loving husband, father of two, beloved brother and friend to many.
Matt was born on July 23, 1970, in Canon City, CO to Dick and Mae Mestas. Matt met his wife, Jennifer Hogan, and together they raised two beautiful children; daughter, Grace, and son, Gabe. He was a doting father – proud of the athleticism both of kids exhibit on and off the basketball court.
Growing up, Matt had a love for football. In 1989, he took his Trinidad High School football team all the way to the state championships, where they won the title of State Champions for the first time in 30 years. This was a day to remember for all of Trinidad, Co and for Matt’s family and friends. He went on to play football at the collegiate level at Adams State College.
Matt had a passion for hunting, fishing and the outdoors. He loved being outside so much, that he made that his life’s passion in landscaping. Matt had an amazing ability to see such beauty in nature.
