Matthew Benson Shelton, 52, of Martinsville, VA died Sunday, March 13, 2011. He was born on February 10, 1959 in Martinsville, VA to the late Benson “Ben†Eugene Shelton and Lois Lyons Shelton. Mr. Shelton retired from the U. S. Navy after 23 years as a highly decorated Senior Chief Petty Officer. He was also a 33rd Degree Mason with the Dorchester Lodge #369 in Charleston, SC. Surviving are his wife, Rhonda L. Shelton of the home; son, the Reverend Benson Shelton of Falls Church, VA; sisters, Karen Leech, Ann Martin and Beth Heim all of Martinsville, VA; step-son, Adam Richardson of Martinsville, VA and several nieces, nephews and a great-niece.
