Portage- Maryellen (Wedmore) Vandelene, “Baba”, age 87, of Portage, IN passed away June 27, 2014.  She was born December 9, 1926, in Muncie, the daughter of John and Fern (Gibson) Wedmore.  She attended Muncie schools, graduated from Muncie Central High School, and loved the Bearcats.

     She is survived by one daughter, Nancy Witt, (husband Bob), and one son, Rick Vandelene, (wife, Jenney); five grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; her siblings: Joan “Betty” Wolf, Henry Wedmore, John Wedmore, and Dan Wedmore.  Preceded in death by her husband, Jules Vandelene, Jr.; her father, John Wedmore; her mother, Fern (Gibson) Wedmore; and siblings: Faye Tufts, Anna Rose Rutherford, Lamonte Hutchins, Martha Burke, Ernie Wedmore, Tommy Wedmore, Orin Wedmore, Jane Hurless, Ruth Wedmore and Rhuie Wedmore; her in-laws: John and Edith (Vandelene) Smith, Kenneth and Helen (Vandelene) Keller, and Robert and Martha Helen Vandelene.

     Maryellen had many talents.  She was an excellent cook, seamstress, and crafter.  She was always generous to anyone in need and a secret angel for many helping behind the scenes anonymously by donating her time, talents and money.  She was the heart and soul of her family and they adored her.  Her life was stitched together with pieces of Faith, family, humor, and love just like her beautiful handmade quilts.  She leaves behind a legacy of Faith and love.
