Mary Land Pittsford Wonders, 90, of Anderson, passed away on September 1, 2013 at Miller’s Merry Manor in Chesterfield following an extended illness.
She was born on March 21, 1923 in Anderson and lived here all of her life. In the past years, the former farm wife drove a tractor, worked at a local cafeteria and briefly worked at Delco-Remy of General Motors before a lay-off occured. Later, Mary had worked at Frisch’s on Broadway for 28.5 years before retiring in 1997. She was a member of the Kindom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
Mary is survived by her children, Lois Melvin Imel, Becky Mike Hudson, JR Joyce Pittsford, and Paul Kenny Hardeman Pittsford; sister, Martha Smith and brother, Carl Margaret Land; four grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, five step-great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, and one step-great-great grandchild; three nieces and one nephew.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ezra and Gertrude Conway Land, daughter Marilyn Sue Apodaca and grandson, Lee Apodaca. Mary’s family would like to thank the staff of Miller’s Merry Manor in Chesterfield for the exceptional care they provided to her over the last several years and also her many nursing home friends for their love and support also.
