Mary Rose Gainor Carlson, 65, passed away at 5:58 p.m. on Monday, April 4, 2016 in Union Hospital.
Mary was born July 29, 1950 in Terre Haute to George Gainor and Jesse Bemis Gainor.
She loved to play cards, especially Skipbo and Phase 10 with her grandchildren. She also liked to play Tetris on the Playstation. She was quite the bowler in earlier years. She liked to shop, and play with her grandkids. She would sit outside and enjoy the day in her favorite chair. Mary was a great cook and could make the best meatloaf and baked spaghetti. She enjoyed collecting owls, her favorite animal, as well as many other stuffed animals. She also enjoyed doing fill-in word puzzles, watching Jeopardy and crime shows. Mary was a dedicated mother and grandmother and the glue that held her family together. She was the person who made sure everyone was alright and made sure everyone was in communication. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Jack Carlson; two sons, Joe Carlson and his wife Anna and Jack Carlson and his wife Elizabeth; two daughters, Jennifer Carlson and Julie Lane and her husband Derek. She is also survived by five brothers, George Gainor III, James Gainor and his wife Linda, Richard Gainor, Mike Gainor and his wife Vonna and Leo Gainor; three sisters, Anne Gainor, Barbara Rainbolt and Loretta Byers and her husband Donald; grandchildren, A.J., Erica, Levi, Shannon, Jacob and Abby Carlson, Samantha Fitzgerald and her husband Levi, and Renae Taylor. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews.
