Mary Rose (Tardy) Bilts, 82, of Windham passed away peacefully May 27, 2007 at Douglas Manor with her family at her side. Mary was born July 13, 1924, the 13th child of the late Adjutor and Alice Marie (Asselin) Tardy. Her siblings predeceased her. She married Alexander Theodore Bilts on August 9, 1940; he predeceased her on March 15, 1971. Mary worked at the American Thread Company, retiring before the company moved south. Although life may not have been easy at times, Mary always persevered to provide what she could for her and her family. She was a strong-spirited woman who spoke her mind. She enjoyed reading, country music, and watching the birds and butterflies. Prior to her admission to Douglas Manor, she resided with her son, Francis. Survivors include a daughter Jeanne Tucker of Columbia; three sons, Theodore Bilts, of Torrington, and Francis J. and John Bilts, both of Windham; two granddaughters, Mary Rose Wadhams and her husband Arthur of Torrington and Cynthia Doyle and her husband Michael of Oakdale; two great grandsons, Matthew Bilts and his wife Kendall of Canton, and Tucker Doyle of Oakdale; a great great grandson Zachary Bilts of Canton; several nieces and nephews including Alice Burke of West Harford, Julie Tingley of Florida and Raymond Brochu of California. She was predeceased by her son James Bilts, two nephews Edward and Thomas Burnore, and a niece Carol (Burnore) Tremblay.
