tMary Margaret Schirmer, 89, of Freeport, died Tuesday, February 16, 2010 at her home surrounded by her family.
Born March 12, 1920 in Freeport she was the daughter of Harry G. and Mary (Flanagan) Scheidt. She married George H. Schirmer, Jr. May 3, 1941 and he died December 10, 1970.Mary Marg was a local real-estate Broker for several years and is best remembered for owning and operating Mary Margaret Schirmer Interiors for over 25 years. Her memberships included St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church and its Altar & Rosary Society, FHN Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, Provena St. Joseph Auxiliary, and she was a member and an organizer of the Bridge Marathon of the Children Home and Aid Society. She was past president of Amity. Mary Marg was an avid Bridge Player.
Surviving is her daughter, Laurie (Thomas) Carpenter of Valparaiso, Indiana; 2 sons, Michael (Toni) Schirmer of Shillington, Pennsylvania and David (Dawn) Schirmer of Pearl City; 1 sister, Martha Glos of Freeport; 1 daughter in-law, Patricia Schirmer of Freeport; 12 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; 2 sons, George Schirmer III, and Timothy Schirmer.
