Mary Louise (Davis) Peck, loving mother and devoted wife, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 3 at The Hearth of Prestwick senior community in Avon. She was preceded in death by her husband Phillips J. Peck, Sr. and son Phillips J. Peck, Jr. She is survived by her son Stephen Peck of Columbus and daughter Janie McKinney of Pittsboro as well as five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Mary was born in Dugger, Indiana on June 23, 1917. After marrying Phillips she moved to Washington D.C. on December 7, 1941 – Pearl Harbor Day. Phillips was a White House news correspondent throughout World War II and the pair experienced exciting times together in the nation’s capital before returning to Indiana.

Mary leaves behind a legacy of love to her adoring family which revered her for her vast knowledge and cerebral sense of humor. Known to all as “Mom” she personified motherly affection and the spirit of maternal protection to her siblings, whom she cared for throughout the Great Depression as well as her own children and their offspring.
