Mary Louise Burkhardt, 96, of Bethlehem, passed away on Saturday, June 7, 2014 in Holy Family Manor. She was the wife of the late Joseph A. Burkhardt, who died in 2005. Born in Bethlehem, she was the daughter of the late William A. Jenkins and Margaret I. (Edwards) Jenkins Dennis. She was a 1936 graduate of Liberty High School and a 1940 graduate of Penn State University. Mary Louise was a dietitian at Saucon Valley School District for 12 years, retiring in 1983. She was a member of the Alpha Ki Omega Sorority, the Penn State Alumni Association and Liberty High Alumni Choir. Mary Louise was a dedicated member of Edgeboro Moravian Church in Bethlehem, where she served as a Trustee, Elder and Choir member. She enjoyed Phillies Baseball and Penn State Football. Survivors: her loving family include a son, William J. Burkhardt and his wife, Barbara of Bethlehem; daughters, Joan B. Linney and her husband, Robert of Hellertown and Louise B. Kwiatek and her husband, Thomas of Bethlehem ; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchilden. A brother, John W. Jenkins died earlier.
