Mary Lou Lanier Fife, born January 2, 1909, passed away at the remarkable age of 107, April 27, 2016. A native of Gretna, LA, and graduate of Newcomb College in New Orleans, she excelled in athletics and earned the nickname “Lanky Lanier.”
She taught math and physics for 34 years and was a member of her parish sodality, Catholic Daughters of America (since 1927), Red Cross (42 years), Christ the King Altar Society, Delta Kappa Gamma. A woman of deep faith, she was a role model for all those whose lives she touched.
