Mary Lou Cockrell, 78, a long-time resident of Flagstaff, died in Flagstaff, November 7, 2017.

She was born in Tylertown, Mississippi to Ford and Laverne Milner. She attended and graduated from Hammond High School in Hammond, LA. She moved with her family to Flagstaff in 1954, where attended Flag High for one year and met the love of her life, John Cockrell, She returned to Louisiana and corresponded with John for 3 1/2 years. They were married October 1959 in Flagstaff where they started their family.

Her life was blessed by the birth of her son, Dwight and her daughter, Perrie. After raising them and keeping a comfortable home for John she worked as service representative for National Health Laboratories for 7 years.

She attended Christ’s Church of Flagstaff. Her greatest love was her grandchildren. In her words, she survived being married to her husband for 58 years! As you can tell, she had a wonderful sense of humor. She always loved to a good joke and loved to laugh, a lot.

She is survived by her husband, John, daughter Perrie O’Connor of Flagstaff, Dwight Cockrell of Wyoming, nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She will be remembered by all of them as a fun, life-loving wife, mother and grandmother.
