Mary Louise Aims (Mary Lou), 68, East Berlin, joined the angels in Richmond, VA following a long battle with heart disease.  Born in Reading, PA (birth family Wolf), daughter of John (dec.) and Mary Bachman, Reading, PA.  Loving husband of 47 years Robert, children Matthew, Allison Wylam (Allen Estep, Jr.), Jeffrey, Grammy to grandchildren Reece, Jacob (Phenyx), Braeden and Molly. Brothers Mark (Amy), Mike (Michelle) and John (Bonnie) Bachman; birth sisters Barbara, Ann and Clarise, 3 cats and one dog. She was known as the velvet steamroller.

She was a dedicated servant of the Lord, member of Trinity Lutheran Church, East Berlin, PA and active with the choir. She earned a BA from Alvernia College, Reading, PA, and a Masters from United Lutheran Seminary, Gettysburg at 67. She served as church secretary or Christian Education Director and an active choir member at Second Presbyterian, Carlisle, PA, First Presbyterian, Bloomsburg, PA, Woolrich United Methodist, Woolrich, PA, Vestal United Methodist, Vestal, NY,  Auburn United Methodist, Auburn, NY, Good Shepherd Presbyterian, Joppatown, MD. 

Mary Lou was always serving her community, as a Nursery School director in Mt. Holly Springs, PA and Binghamton, NY., leading the Volunteer Interfaith Caregiver Program in Binghamton and Auburn, and the Americorp program in Baltimore. She substitute taught in Bloomsburg. She trained as a Doula, and volunteered for SCCAP, Luna’s House, Habitat for Humanity and the Salvation Army. She was a member of Jaycees in Mt. Holly, Rotary in Lock Haven, and Kiwanis in Auburn and Perry Hall, MD, serving as President. Exchange students from Columbia and Germany were hosted in her home. She was a member of the Harrisburg Sweet Adelines and a manager for Easter Bunny and Santa picture booths at the Oakdale (NY) and White Marsh (MD) malls.

Her family sincerely thanks the staff of the Cardiac ICU at Hershey and the Cardiac Surgery ICU at VCU Health for all their kind and professional services over the past 21 weeks.
