DURHAM- Mrs. Mary Lee Johnson, 84, passed away on Sunday, February 23, 2020.
Mrs. Johnson was born on June 20, 1935 to Robert and Gertrude Lee in Durham, NC. She worked at Sperry Rand for over 20 years before becoming a cafeteria worker at Riverside High School. Mary had a big heart, was very honest, and loved conversing with people. She was hardworking, enjoyed yard work and loved coffee. She was “Nana” to many and raised two children, three grandchildren, and a great-grandchild. Mary will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Gertrude Lee; her son, Robbie Gravitte; brothers, James, Alfred, Paul, and Theodore Lee; and sisters, Dorothy Blackwell, and Delores Moran. She is survived by her son, Michael T. Gravitte of Homer, GA; grandchildren, Ashley Gravitte (Derrick) of Durham, Robert L. Gravitte, Jr. of Durham, NC, and Sierra Fowler (Michael) of Garner, NC; and great-grandchildren, Taliyah Wright, and Zoe Fowler.
