Mary Lillian Lester personified Mom. “Tootie” had no time for stoicism, cynicism and meanness. Love and acceptance formed her core. Her bespoke love for her family was her signature style. No doubt these were qualities she inherited from her beloved parents, Lillian Mary Long and I. David Long on that auspicious date of June 8, 1934.
Gardening brought her joy, as did the scent of lilies of the valley. She never met a cookie she didn’t like.
Mary may have passed to be with her Heavenly Father on May 11, 2017 but the memories of those who love her will only grow stronger and stronger. She was Mom to 5 unique personalities who all share the common denominator of good. She spent 61 years of her life perfecting that role. It was a life well-spent. Her 5 children will continue honoring her through themselves and the perpetuation of love in their own families. Mary will be missed more than words can express.

Her five children: Mary Pat Cabrera, Susan Schallau, Chris Lester, Bill Lester, and Tracy Stuart.
Her nine grandchildren: Erin Kaplan, Brendan Lester, Steven Schallau, Hilary Greeff, Scott Schallau, Seth Schallau, Eugenie Greeff, Lily Stuart, and Jack Lester.
Her 3 great grandchildren: Benjamin, Emma and Sophia Kaplan.
Her 4 step grandchildren: Jimmy Cabrera, Tyler Cabrera, Brooke Cabrera, and Katie Cabrera.
