Mary Lois Taylor Golden, 91, was born on September 24, 1924 in Vernon, Alabama. She was the sixth of ten children born to Hosea and Essie Taylor.
Mary had three brothers – Amos, Samuel (Buddy) and John Taylor and six sisters – Bernice (Bunchie) Lawson, Fran (Fannie) Cade, Ruth Dick, Lorene Reid, Jewel Cassell, and Sena Buxton.
Mary married the love of her life William (Bill) Golden on April 5, 1941 in the state of Louisiana at the age of 17. They lived in Mississippi for several years, during which time they had a daughter, Shirley, and one son William who was often referred to as “little Bill”. Their second son, Kenneth, was born during their time spent in Colorado. In 1956, Bill and Mary moved the family to Klamath Falls, Oregon where they spent several years before returning to Mississippi in 1964. Mary spent her life being a devoted wife, mother and full time homemaker.
Mary had a love of quilting and especially hand embroidery needlework. Prior to developing macular degeneration, she had made a quilt for each of her grandchildren. She was very sad when her eyesight became so bad that she had to give up her needlework. She was also an avid reader, and she truly looked forward to her many religious publications that came each month.
Mary was blessed to have six grandchildren – Ken , Robert and A.J. Golden, Janice Fulkerson, Brenda Ashworth and Edward Miller.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, three sisters, her husband and son Bill.
