Mary Learlean Williams- Betts was born on March 16, 1937 in Pensacola, Florida. Mary attended elementary school, middle school, and graduated from St. Joseph Catholic High School in Pensacola, FL. She was a graduate of Metro State University. On January 22, 1958, Mary married James Van Betts Jr. who was serving in the U.S. Army. Mary was the proud parent of two daughters. Mary was preceded in death by her parents Vestor and Annie Lee Williams, daughter Karen Vannette Jones, and is survived by daughter Thaisa Faith Bivins.
