Mary Kathleen “Kaye” Sanders Knupp, 85, Chesterfield, passed away October 10, 2009 at Millers Merry Manor-Chesterfield after an extended illness. She was born April 5, 1924 in Mitchell, Indiana, and resided in Anderson since June of 2005. Kaye retired from Western Electric in Indianapolis.
She was a very involved member of Cross Roads United Methodist Church where she was involved with the church phone committee. Kaye was a member of the Fishers Eastern Star and the Senior Citizens Group in Noblesville. She enjoyed square dancing. She is survived by her husband whom she married November 2, 1973, Gilbert M. Knupp; step-children, Connie Donald Rice of Franklin, Pennsylvania, Carl Myrna Knupp of Anderson, Gary Penny Knupp of Franklin, Pennsylvania, Sue Elliott of Chesterfield, Rita Maddox of Brimfield, Illinois and Peggy Clayton of Peoria, Illinois; sisters, Marjorie Amighetti of St. Louis, Missouri and Charlene Whitlock of Kentucky; 14 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
Also surviving are several nieces, nephews and cousins. A special thank you goes to St. John’s Health System Hospice and Miller’s Merry Manor in Chesterfield. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest & Jewell Wilson Sanders; first husband, Kenneth Perkins; step-son, James M. Knupp and two step-grandsons.
