Mary K. Burke O’Brien , 84
Brunswick Mary K. Burke O’Brien , 84 ,of Ouimet Drive Brunswick, died Saturday, December 18, 2004 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Troy after a long illness.
Born in Schenectady, she was the daughter of the late Michael J. Burke and Ada (Haight) Burke.
She was raised in Schenectady and resided in the Troy area most of her life and earned her Bachelor and Masters Degrees from the College of Saint Rose and earned a second Masters Degree in Education from Russell Sage College.
Mrs. O’Brien was a school teacher for four years At Keveny Memorial Academy in Cohoes and for 20 years in the Troy School District retiring from Carroll Hill Elementary School as one of the first special education teachers.
She was a member of the Troy, New York State and United Teachers Associations and a communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Troy.
She is survived by a son, Michael J. O’Brien of Brunswick; a brother, Robert Burke of Denver, CO and a niece, Kathleen Burke Carter of CO. She was predeceased by her two sisters, Helen V. Burke just this year in July and Marjorie Burke.
