Mary Swalve, 84, of Ocheyedan passed away on Tuesday, August 21, 2018, at the Accura Healthcare of Milford.
Mary was born on July 26, 1934, in Ocheyedan to Charles and Alice (Pedley) Swalve. She graduated from Ocheyedan High School. Throughout Mary’s life she worked as a caregiver for different families, she also worked for Sibley Egg and Poultry and in her later years, she was a caregiver for her father and family members. She enjoyed reading, gardening, cooking, and babysitting for her neighbors. Mary is survived by her 5 siblings Roger (Frances) Swalve of Arnolds Park and their children Tammy, Brenda, and Tim; Karen Swalve of Ocheyedan and her daughter Julie; Jan (Marc) Nielsen of Spirit Lake and their children Brad, Drew, and Linda; Allen “Pee Wee” Swalve of Milford and his children Kevin and David; and Debra Gettner of Sioux City; deceased brother Dwaine’s children Shari and Susan; 8 great-nieces and nephews and 4 great-great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Dwaine and Norman, brother-in-law Curt Gettner and her niece Barbara Goodwin.
