Mary Joy went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, April 15, 2021, at the age of 86. Where she met her husband, her best friend Tom Joy who preceded her in death on July 4, 2008, and also her parents Chalk and Lily.

She is survived by her sister, Laura Lee Stover of Alamogordo, NM, her son, Dwayne (Joann) Joy of Capitan, NM, and their sons, Travis (Shelley) Joy and their daughters, Alexis, Marissa, Shaina, and Trista, and two great-great grandsons of Vancouver, WA, and Jared (Angie) Joy and their daughter, Jewel of Carrizozo, NM, her daughter, Kayla (Glenn) Clifton of Carrizozo, NM, and her son, Mike (Amy) Joy of Roswell, NM. She is also survived by many niece, nephews, and cousins. Mary’s big smile and friendship and love will be missed by all.

Mary was born and raised on the Flying H Ranch in Chaves County. She and her husband Tom attended a one room schoolhouse on the Flying H, until time to start high school, where she transferred and graduated from Artesia High School. Mary and Tom married in 1954, after they married, they worked on many ranches in Chaves, Lea and Lincoln County. Mary was active in Chaves County Cowbells and Canyon Cowbells of Carrizozo. Mary was also a member of the Lea County and Farmington extension clubs, where she loved doing crafts and anything else they were making or doing. Mary made many afghans and clothes for her sons and daughter and many nieces and nephews would give her an idea of something to sew and she could make a pattern and make it. She made dance costumes for Harding-Webster Dance Studio in Carlsbad.

Mary loved music and dancing, playing 42, and people, she never met a stranger, she could find family anywhere she went.

Mary moved to Roswell after she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2014, she made the comment that she was not going to be sick from chemotherapy and radiation, and she was true to her word she never was.
