Mary Jo Dyhrkopp, age 48, of Spirit Lake, passed away Thursday, November 29, 2012, at her home in Spirit Lake. She was born on December 20, 1963, in Spirit Lake, to Jerry and Erin (Parks) Dyhrkopp. Mary Jo lived most of her childhood in Arnolds Park, before graduating from North High School in Sioux City. Mary Jo held various bartending jobs and was manager for the Goodwill Store in LeMars. She could talk to anyone, had a wonderful smile and a generous heart! She would help anyone, giving them her last dollar. Mary Jo enjoyed spending her spare time fishing, going to garage sales, making jewelry and spending time with her family. Mary Jo was a woman of faith and was a member of the Spirit Lake United Methodist Church. Mary Jo is survived by her siblings, Michele Shortley of Milford, Terri Dyhrkopp of Miltona, Minnesota, Mark Dyhrkopp and Jesse Mueller of Spirit Lake, Mary Ellen Ericson and Glen Dowdy of Lake Park, Jami (Tom) Hassett of Omaha, Nebraska, and Steve Dyhrkopp of Arnolds Park; and nieces and nephews, twins, Hayden and Luther Shortley, Haley Kuehl, Megan Kuehl, Melissa Wilkens, Rachel Ericson, Justin Dyhrkopp, Josh Dyhrkopp, Eli Dyhrkopp, Emma Dyhrkopp, Jared Dyhrkopp and Chloe Dyhrkopp. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jerry and Erin Dyhrkopp; her paternal grandparents, Ralph and Georgia Dyhrkopp; and her maternal grandparents, Ed and Laura Parks.
