Mary Jane Bryan Meddick, educator born at 2:25 pm. on December 14th 1917 in her parents house, 14301 Mayfair Street in the city of East Cleveland, Ohio left flying on the trip that takes her far beyond this earth that she now sees resting upon the backs of twelve great elephants standing atop the giant turtle swimming across the sea of endless time.  Soon she will be with her parents, Earl James Bryan and Blanche Marie Horn Bryan, her too soon departed brother, James Earl Bryan and her loving husband, John Warren six-year delay in joining Jack, the love of her life, was largely do to her bountiful love for her five boys, John George Meddick, a prudent and honest Cleveland financial worker, Robert James Meddick, a Charleston, South Carolina defense department worker, Thomas William Meddick, a Mansfield Connecticut retiree, William Bryan Meddick, a New Haven arts worker and James Osborn Meddick, a graphic artist with a residence in Milford. They gave her six delightful and nearly perfect grandchildren as well as, so far; five completely perfect great grand children.  Also greatly affected by her departure are her brother, Robert O. Byran living in New York City and her sister, Jo Ann B. Stevens living on the west coast in Altadena.  All of whom she sadly had to leave behind after casting her spell over them.        Her departure day was December 5th and she left after a largely successful time spent making light of darkness until her last few days when the gloves came off and no holds were barred in the struggle at the Mary Wade home in New Haven.  When it was over Mary had finally and utterly prevailed.  Only in the days and years ahead will we know what a true but paradoxical paradise she made for all who got to know her.  Her boys will be missing her until the end of their days if only because she so aptly drummed into their heads that is the first duty of all sons to honor and love their mom.
