Mary Jane “Janie” Paolino, 90, passed away January 4, 2013 in Canon City, CO. She was born October 22, 1922 in Rochester, NY to Frank E. and Katherine M. (Wilson) Lloyd. Janie was united in marriage to Joseph J. Paolino Sr., and together they owned and operated the Royal Cafe in Canon City. She was a wonderful cook making traditional Italian homemade dinners, and especially enjoyed cooking for her family and friends. She enjoyed the simple things in life. Playing yahtzee, watching her soap opera, taking occasional trips to the Pueblo Mall, and sitting on the deck in the summer are just a few things she enjoyed. Janie loved animals and enjoyed their companionship, especially her little miniature Malteze. She was a member and supporter of the U.S. Humane Society. Janie loved life, family, and friends. She had a special gift of bringing a smile and ray of sunshine to every person she knew. She was the family rock that everyone could turn to and rely on. On her 90th birthday, her family held a party in her honor which was monumental to her and cherished until her passing. She was kind and loving, and the time she spent with her family was very important to her. She shared the last eight years living with her son “Skip” and daughter-in-law, Shelly.
