Mary Jane Bennett Granke, age 86, of St Joseph, passed away peacefully, Sunday, May 1, 2016, in Stevensville, Michigan, with her family at her side.Mary Jane was born March 22, 1930, in Tullahoma, Tennessee, the daughter of Winford and Sarah (Jackson) Bennett. She moved to Buchanan, Michigan when she was 6 years old. She attended New Troy School.
She married Julius Granke on September 5, 1947. They celebrated 57 years together before he passed away in March 2005. Together they owned and operated Judy’s Wrecker Service in Benton Harbor, Michigan for 47 years until retirement. Mary Jane enjoyed playing the guitar and listening to country music. She enjoyed dancing and crocheting.Mary Jane will be greatly missed by family and friends.
She is survived by her children: Vicki (Perry) Bundy of St Joseph, Deborah (Lee) Blaylock of Benton Harbor, Christine (Steve) Bailey of Hartford, Jacquelyne (Mike) Thomas of St Joseph; her 8 grandchildren: Jeffery Bundy, Tonya Gonzales, Dana Blaylock, Scott Blaylock, April Cobb, Steven Bailey Jr, Amber Andrus, Shaun Thomas; her 27 great-grandchildren; her four sisters: Ruth (Thomas) Johnson of Niles, Margaret Ugajin of Conyers, Georgia, Barbara (Daniel) Lauver of Billings, Montana, Rebecca (William) Rardin of Dudley, Georgia; her brother Winford Howard (Glenda) Bennett of Pachuta, Mississippi; and several nieces, nephews, and friends.
Mary Jane is preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Julius, her son-in-law Homer Lee Blaylock, her great-grandson Joshua, and her brother-in-law Kazuo Ugajin, Family and friends will gather for a Graveside Service on Saturday, May 7, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. at Riverside Cemetery, Chikaming Township, Michigan.
