Mary Jane Barber, 71, of Winamac, Indiana, and formerly of New Buffalo, Michigan died Thursday, May 23, 2013, at Parkview Hospital in Ft. Wayne.
Mary Jane was born August 10, 1941, in Ft. Dodge, Iowa to Charles and Lucille (Werling) Brown.
After graduating from high school in Renwick, Iowa, she attended Beauty School. On May 1, 1961, Mary Jane married Ralph Barber in Chamberlain, South Dakota, they spent 52 wonderful years together. She lived in New Buffalo for 35 years and owned Mary’s Beauty Box, cutting and styling hair. She worked at New Buffalo Township for many years.
Mary Jane loved to read, raise orchids, and work in her flower gardens. She was a devoted fan of her son’s sports games and enjoyed the many camping trips with her family. Mary Jane liked people and was always there for people in need.
Survivors include her husband, Ralph; sons, Mark (Emily) Barber of Three Oaks, Michigan and Scott Barber of Weirsdale, Florida; grandchildren, David, Jessica, Scotty, Kaley and Sydney and great-grandchildren, Tyler, Aleah, and Aubrianna, sister Linda McCormak, Scottsdale, Arizona and brother, Llewellyn Brown of Algona, Iowa.
